Con, Raoul, thanks. Have been searching in vain for very cool avatar to match very cool personality and incredible good looks but my mum hasn’t approved any of them yet. Okay, so there might be some problems with the personality but she does say I'm getting more outgoing every day whereas I just think I gotta get out more every day! Oops gotta go – apparently I have to teach some kids some stuff or something.

Can I play?? Please, please can I? I'm no expert on urinals, so I'll go back to what I thought the topic was.
I prefer to think of myself as being of indeterminate age - which is to say, my body has aged MUCH faster than my mind. I spent more years than I care to remember in Corporate land in the UK, particularly in Corporate Education, Management Development, e-learning and Marketing. When my children were grown and pursuing their own lives I got to wondering why I was doing a job that now bored me, so volunteered as a teacher in Nepal to test whether I was any good at it and whether I liked it. Then did the Tefl certificate and came to China.
What a shock that was! But now, oddly, I'm going to come back! As the yanks would say, go figure. I did my last lesson of this contract today, and it was really quite sad. I love the students, they compensate for a lot. All I have to do now is get a contract for next year. Ummm, not so easy as it looks, confusing number of options.
BTW George thanks for the PM, I've tried replying but it doesn't seem to work. I haven't quite got the hang of this yet, as you might tell by the lack of smileys and stuff. I just hope I can still access this site from the UK - going back for the summer in 14 sleeps!

Yeah, I agree. What Con said.
We need more nice people to leaven the mix a bit. Plus, we don't have enough Ukadians, being only half a one by birth myself.

oooohhhh. He's doing it again! Implying that the rest of us aren't nice. Keep this up Mr N and I will ask my triad friends to come and play. We are all nice people - especially the ones who are allowed into the Ladies Lounge.

Hi, Beausie, glad to know you a little better now. Ending are always sad, and yes, the students make it worthwhile. What ages have you been teaching?
Hope you find just the right job and living situation for you for next year.
And the Saloon is as close as the internet.

I said we need more, I didn't say we had none. Nice people that is. The ladies are nice here. The men, on the other hand, vary a lot. (Except of course me. Trust me, would an aging exhippy lie?) Does that satisfy you Dear Lotus?

I like buying drinks for girls. G&T's for the chicks please Raoul, and spare the expense!
Besides, it is hard to offend me.
And I didn't forget the G&Ts. This way I get another post in.
I am sure that Lotus will buy me a drink should I look like I need it.
Oh, and Lotus? The triad friends - who are they with? Maybe they know my triad friends.

I want to say something about me as well in the sense of being polite! Chinese lady, as Raoul guessed from my application letter! it is a bit strange though, how could he tell i was a Chinese without knowing any information about me! it must be something like Chinese special way of communicating with people:D --i thought i was successful in working as a global person! --I suppose you guys all know how Chinese look like, maybe they look the same to you as well, because for some Chinese, you look almost the same!--but i am a little different! I am from South of China, a relatively nicer place--in my opinion.By accident, now i am in a city which is in middle of China--Xi'an, but i will leave here soon, because of the ungreeable weather, work environment as well! I was an English Teacher-- for various ages and various levels' students!(5years) Freelance translator/Interpreter currently--remember to recommend me if your friends need some help, plus they have some money --they'd better have! Hobbies: playing pingpang, batminton, shopping, travelling, playing computer, having fun, as well hard working my motto: I am me!

Hey, Phyliss...Welcome you to come to the Saloon. Do you like Chinese food?? It's good to have some more beautiful, Chinese girls in here. We only had 2 till you showed up. It's good you are a Translator...some of the stuff that people write here is very strange, so you will be able to help out. One of our old ladies lives in Xian. Most of the people here are very kind, nice, friendfly, etc, but be VERY careful about the other men. A good girl like you should only drink with me.

G'day Phyllis
Welcome again. On another thread I already said g'day and then kinda thought you were Australian, and I hope that my brand of wacky, zany, over the top sense of humour wasn't too much for you.
But just remember. If you ever go to Australia there are 20 million people there, all the same as Lotus, Woza, George and me.

Yes Phyllis. You're from the South of the Middle Kingdom. Roul is very very clever man. BUT he did not know that. He's slipping. However he intuitively feels where peole are from. When I applied he knew I was a girl. I still can't figure out how he does it. And yes. The weather in Xi'an is most unagreeable. Where you teach?

Newbs, senator Vanstone couldn't of done a better job of dissuading people to come to Ausralia. Mentioning the 4 treasures. My Chinese mate has his running joke about Australia it never ceases to make him laugh when he tells it to himself over and over again.
1. Fat women 2. Flies 3 drunk men.
Aparrently its a South China Hong Kong thing. Phyllis, where do you plan to go next after Xian? Cheers Woza

don't thank her, George. apparently Nobody (didn't) asked her to drink already (if that makes any sense). okay, now for another installment of "misquotes are us:" Newbs couldn't of done a better job mentioning the 4 treasures. My mate running about Australia never ceases to laugh to himself over Fat women, Flies, drunk men - a South China thing. Phyllis, do you plan to go?

Gengrant, woza, Thanks for your new ideas about South, i will be careful! but when i say South, i donot mean that far, maybe more like East of China, but South of the MOTHER river! I taught there for several years,in my opinion, it is a very nice place to live in!

China is a big place Phyllis. South of the Chiang Jiang and east where is that. Don't worry I won't haul my fat ass over there and bring my collection of Aussie blow flies, the king and queen of flies, then there is the March fly, gives a painful bite but is real slow so easy to kill him. The bush flies are just damned annoying. You could probably do a Zodiac thing around flies, each type of fly has its own personality and you could match it up to human traits. I see George as a March fly
If I could see me as a bug I would be a ladybird

Hi Phyllis,
I am an Australian too, and living in Nanning, about as south and east as you can get. Where are you from?
And Woza? what was the forth treasure, or shouldn't I ask? You only mentioned fat women flies and drunken blokes.

Thanks, Woza, no one has ever mentioned me and Senator Vanstone in the same sentence before. Expect to hear from my solicitors, and from her's too probably. Seriously, Senator Vanstone is one example of what is wrong in the sunburnt these days. Only one mind, we also have Kerry Packer, Andrew Downer, and the biggest(?) liability of them all, Hunt Coward.
Why didn't I mention Mr N when reeling off names of famous Australians? Cos there are not 20 million like him. Once they made him they broke the mold.
