No I know what you mean...this sort of thing reminds me of China. It's truly amazing how events that would be catastrophic anywhere else in the world are treated as minor news stories. "Big accident, 200 people dead, no biggie".
Of course, the main news story will always be how China's government met with another foreign leader who affirmed the One China policy.
Amazing place.

Be fair - they are trying to get rid of the Minister for Mines, so we now hear about how many mine deaths there are - 4 different diasters in the last 4 weeks. This guy has their full confidence!!

To be fair, it said there were around 300 train accidents every year, not 300 train wrecks. There are many ways to get into an accident without killing hundreds of people. In fact, I think the rail system in Houston, which carries maybe 20,000 people a day, has had something like 60 accidents in less than a year, usually cars trying to beat a light or something like that.

Yeah, those goshdarn crazy kids and their souped-up hotrodder locomotives, boy. Always trying to keep up with the Casey Joneses. I can't count the number of times I've been woken from a peaceful slumber at 3:00 AM by the sound of some gang of insolent young speed demons in their fruitcake dungaree overalls and their greasy pompadours revving up their boilers to play 'chicken' or somesuch.
