Correct weight, Chips, but ... on the first occasion that you get the kids to move the desks, allow a looong time. Something as revolutionary as having the desks arranged in any manner other than in long, straight rows is, well, revolutionary. Kids might take awhile to work out how to do it. I'm fair dinkum about this.
Yeah, I don't know how PC it is when the teachers, or the students, say "The children all love you."

I'm trying to teach them "We like you" instead but it isn't working real well.

How was living in Dalian? How was working there? Everyone always tells me the living part is heaven, but the working part is Hell. I was tempted to set up in Dalian, but the horror stories about schools there scared me off.

Happy Wedding Shane.
I'm glad to know your last classes with your students are going well.

I got shafted today. According to my timetable, I was supposed to have four classes at my favourite school today, and another four tomorrow. Tomorrow's classes are my favourite kids - funny, attentive, active, good at English - and I was looking forward to playing some games, taking photos, and saying goodbye to them. Got to school at 7:50 this morning, and was told that periods 1 & 2 have been changed to exams, so I needn't have class until period 3, at 10:20. First reason for being pissed off. I'd ventured out early in the blizzard. About twenty minutes later, I was told that tomorrow, the school is having a party, so I have no classes at all. I can't say goodbye to my favourite students! I was gutted! reason for being pissed off number two. After sitting in the cold office for two hours doing nothing, it was time for class. That was when they told me that the third & fourth periods had been changed, and I had no classes - I was free to go home. Reason for being pissed off number three. So, in the space of two hours, my teaching career had effectively come to an abrupt end. Instead of having my bestest students / school on my final day, I'll always remember that my last classes in China were yesterday, at my worst two schools, on my worst day of the week. Wonderful. Con, does that answer your Dalian query? Living here is okay (as long as you don't need water very often), but working here can indeed be a bucket of sh*te. Now I'm free until I go home at the end of February. At least I have lots of time on my hands to prepare for the wedding ceremony (thanks for wishes, Ruth) and to pack the house up into a crate or two and ship it off back to Blighty. End of rant.

Mate, it happens, doesn't it? TIFC as they say. No matter how well we plan, no matter how much experience we have in the Middle Kingdom and how much we anticipate, the school authorities just keep on coming out of left field with, well, stuff. I think someone else was posting something about missing their last class just the other day, but damned if I can remember who it was.
Yeah, and what Ruth said.
