I need to do a quick trip to Honkers very soon and it has occurred to me that I am operating on a huge assumption.
Assumptions have not worked well for me in the past (It's true about them being the mother of all m'kay ups!) so I thought I'd ask the question:
I have a Z Visa and current residency permit. I know getting into Hong Kong is no problem, but when I want to come back into China does my Residency Permit suffice? I'm assuming that it does.
I'm basing this on a comment here or somewhere that was along the lines that it was easy to go from the mainland into HK and back again uing the residents line, not the foreigners one.
Can any of you southerners or otherwise well travelled experts shed some light and a bit of detail on this for me?
Ta!

Is your residence permit a separate book, or is it a sticker in your passport?
The sticker variety are supposed to operate as re-entry visas, presumably up until the date they expire. If it's a separate green book, you need a new re-entry visa, or you need your original Z-visa to be multi-entry.
Disclaimer: no current experience beyond actually possessing such a residence sticker. Others must tell the real stories.

yeah, I have used my one in the passport to go to and from HK several times. No worries. No experience with the seperate book one.

The separate-book one definitely didn't allow re-entry unless it specifically said "allows for x re-entries."
The in-passport kind should be fine. If there is ANY doubt in your mind, stop by and ask your friendly PSB police mans before traveling...

The closest I like to get to the PSB is reading about other people's visits to them, so I'll give that one a pass thanks Raoul.
I've got the sticker in the passport kind, so everything is fine.
Thanks for the info. A round of the good stuff for you guys on me!
