Hotmail's been acting up for me too...but what I find very wierd is that I can access Hotmail through MSN Messenger...very weird...but as everyone knows, the answer for all strangeness is : This is China!
So if you want to access Hotmail, try going through Messenger.
Or, if you want, get on gmail...the only thing with gmail is that you need someone who has it to send you an invitation, let me know and I can send y'all invites...

Hot mail does indeed suck, but...
This is NOT the Cafe. It's the Saloon. And there's more between us and them than just a menu, let me tell ya...

no conspiracy here, I can access it better using Firefox than Safari or Opera. ... but as loops said, it seems easier to get through to hotmail using messenger than going directly.

I spoke with the Uni tech guy today. He said Hotmail can't be accessed by teachers anyone in China. It may be a China thing. I use Yahoo and have been seriously thinking about G-mail. My son uses G-mail so he could invite me but..... There are a lot of people here that only use hotmail. They've been told they can't get on. Apparently, there is a way to load the hotmail and get access. Another teacher went to the internet cafe. The guy there phoned a friend who told him to do something and then they could get the hotmail. In the hotel/residence they have a small internet bar. They have to load MSN each time someone wants to get in. so it is accessable if you know how to jiggle the thingies.......

Ok Bottom line is, you have to reload MSN every time you want to get on, but you can get on without any trouble once you do.

Want to use Firefox, but msn won't let me do it. Bloody microsoft global monopoly conspiracy.

Gees loops, I don't have MSN messenger on my machine. I was just giving info to those folks that want to access hotmail. I only check my hotmail once a month so no big deal. Eileen has to redownload MSN and reinstall MSN every time she wants to check her e-mail. I tried to download MSN 7.0 and I couldn't so there. 7.8 or whatever won't load as I don't have XP. I await your sage advice

...just being a prick... You can probably get an older version of MSN Messenger on their site. Try googling Msn Messenger, then look for a version that your OS supports. If you have problems, PM me and I'll find it for ya...later, I'm off to school now...

Use this: www.fastmail.fmIt is simple and fast, and it lets you retrieve the contents of your Hotmail account, and happens to do it in a fraction of the time it takes to actually access your Hotmail account, and doesn't seem to be at all affected by any of the Great FireWall policies. On the other hand, the free Guest accounts do have an overall 10Mb filespace limit. Post Scrito, from the Fastmail faqs: " Note: Hotmail have disabled external access to new accounts, and some non-paying old accounts, so if you rely on retrieving email from Hotmail, we recommend testing this first with a free account."

Just use Gmail. I think you can even configure it to load your Hotmail message as well via the POP settings, although I'm not certain of this as I use my Hotmail account strictly for chatting. I don't think Gmail even requires invites anymore, and it has a nifty Calendar built in.
Surely in 5 years people will be lamenting the evil rise of Google and Firefox just like they are Microsoft now.

The link designed for fancy mobile phones seems to work consistently, the other two not so well - maybe big brother is watching even here...by the way, I heard it could be Microsoft itself that is blocking Chinese IPs, 'cos they are pissed off about the rampant piracy...what do you think?
