Big wind storm happening right here right now. Have been told to fill water buckets.
Wish I had your camera and the eye to use it.
Ooh. The wind is whistling alright but nothing like a hurricane. Still, going to close all the windows and the curtains and burrow down.
All the students are being told to get indoors.

Wind velocity increasing as I type. Noice rising as is the voice over the loudspeakers telling the students to fill water buckets, get out of the restaurants and return to the dorms.
I can't see any dust from the plateaus yet and maybe it won't come but I have a feeling ....something's expected.
Always loved storms. Putting on my outdoor clothes to suss out the scenario. There's a good two maybe three hours before the eye hits.
Damn!!! I wish I had a camera.

Check out the Jinan Hospitality thread for more pics of barbecue in Jinan. Here's one I didn't post before.

That's "Muslim Street". My pics were in another part of town. Muslim St is famous in Jinan. A late night will see the best places full of people, with the "waiters" running around with two fists full of kebabs, shouting their wares, and the customers shouting orders back at them. Utter chaos, and great fun.

Yep, GG. They's the BBQs alright. Some use coal and some use charcoal. Some use a hairdryer as a blower to get them fired up nicely.

Ruth: Nice pic. I wish I knew what the guy to the left of the grill is thinking. Hmm. Noodles or rice for wu fan?
Dragonsaver: what a disappointment. I left my apartment thinking a major storm was about to blow the smog from here to Shanghai but by the time I'd reached the xie men the wind suddenly stopped ...and it began to rain. There was a moment of calm followed by heavy rain.
Just outside of the uni gate stepping into Commercial street a group of people were huddled around a guy who had fallen off the third story construction works.
He was a newbie in the village. A migrant worker and he died alone without anyone to hold his hand.
The water was turned back on this morning. It had nothing to do with the storm-that really-wasn't a -storm. The uni has been doing security checks on everything recently. Don't know why.

Jade, glad you have water, better to miss a storm than be thrown around in one, and what a tragedy for the construction worker. Safety is certainly not a priority here - not that accidents DON'T happen back home, but more awareness of safety, I think.
George - I should have guessed it wasn't the same place. No sheep's heads displayed on the street in the background. And the chairs we sat in were regular height.
