Numbers one and four are my favorites. I particularly like all the satellite dishes on the roofs in number four.
Did you see any butterflies?

Where are the butterflies?
I like the first one and the one with the bridge over the water. Looks like a nice place to spend an afternoon.

Thanks JJL.
Satellite dishes, eh? I was told that it was illegal for an individual Chinese person to have a satellite dish. 5 star hotels ok, foreigners ok, but not the locals. Now, I know all about guanxi, well, some of it at any rate, but I'm wondering. Do they have dishes because of guanxi, or because they are a looooong way from Beijing?

It seems there's satellite dishes on every building I check out in Shenzhen

Breathtaking, Jolly! I love how the Chinese work their buildings into the surrounding terrain. In the country, anyway.

"Butterfly" is a Chinese euphemism for "satellite dish". I'm not sure the dishes are exactly legal but they are near-ubiquitous. Every mailbox I've had here has been stuffed- literally- with ads from dish dealers. It's strange to see the forest of mini-dishes jutting from the skanky, rundown old Chinese apartment exteriors.
Nice pics, JJ. #4 is wonderful.

Villages are amazing places to visit. And almost every where there are satellite dishes - especially in the mountain areas. #4 is my favourite too - I love the old roof lines. Competition is good George - keeps us on our toes! And just wait until I get back from Japan - I have now found a program that resizes all the pictures I want in one go. That was the biggest pain in uploading photos as far as I was concerned.

Lotus,
I still don't know how to upload them, I just take them the way they come.
Yes, there were many butterflies, believe it or not. That's a first for Chinese advertisement, the truth!
It helps to know native Chinese people in Guangxi because the place is full of beautiful scenery, if you are into nature. You just need to know where to go because the places are not advertised that well. This has it good points because you are not bombarded with tourism.
I don't know about Guangxi, but I know that satellite dishes are illegal in Hunan. But hey, has anyone here ever seen a law that is abided by. In Hunan it seems there are no laws. I am starting to think that Canada is communist with all it's rules and regulations, and China is a free for all wild country.
