Jinan Bus Station...7:am Parts of East Shandong seem to be totally wrapped in plastic. Greenhouses. A quick grab from the bus. Old village houses in Shidao. [/img]

The fishing fleet......new boats. old boats.... Unloading the catch. Wholesale buyers. And the fish market.

Lotsa scallop and mussel beds here. This is just a small section. Scallop boats. Check out the outboards! China would be at a standstill without these engines. They drive almost everything rural. This bloke has the right idea about fishing. The old boats are amazing. Of course, the Russians are all over the place.

Good stuff George. You've mentioned where you were going and I forgot, so can you tell us again please? Colleagues travelled through Liaoning and commented on how the plastic was discarded at some stage in the season and so there was mile upon mile of plastic litter. Not a pretty sight.

Great pictures, George. We too traveled through acres of plastic. I love the picture of the old houses with the mountains in the background.

Shidao, Newbs, can be best described as the drip at the end of the Shandong nose. Look at your atlas. The thatched roofs get me every time. These houses are right next door to the apartments.

Nice snaps mate. I'm homesick, and never even got close to Shandong.

What a place. Love those old cottages. They look like something out of the middle ages.
The fish upset me a bit... I hope they all get eaten and not thrown away as so much marine life is dredged and tossed away without benefit to anyone.
The chappie with all the bottles ? A delivery man or just a well equipped fisherman?

The Chinese eat everything! There were some very ugly fish amongst the catch! The wholesale place had people wandering around picking up spilt fish. I think the bloke with the beer may have been delivering. Lots of the scallop boats were congregated together out in the harbour.

That's reassuring. And yes the Chinese do eat everything. Perhaps it's just the west which is ravaging marine life.
Looks like a great place for a holiday.
