Here is Mrs OG with the same flute man, as like Jollyjunklass, we too often shoot down to Yangshuo for a weekend. There are three of these flute sellers, but this bloke has been there the longest and has a great look about him.

Nice shots. I'm homesick, having spent 2 years in Guilin. The fisherman photo is outside the Malaysian joint-venture upmarket hotel. The flute guy [in Ozgronk's snap] is outside the downmarket, but desirably located Si Hai hotel, my first doss in town early '97. Memories. Interesting to note the number of Chinese tourists in the streets; this was a noticeable if minor trend some years back. Wo de lao po shi Guilin ren. The pedant in me tells me to point out it's Yangshuo, not Yangshou. The pronunciation is quite different.

And here is what I believe will be the end of Yangshuo as we know it. We were there on the weekend that KFC opened its first outlet at the top of West street. The first photo of the Lion dance was taken on the exact spot that JJs photo of the cormorant fisherman was taken, and the actual shop is directly opposite. To me and I am sure to many others, the whole ambiance is now ruined.
