AKA - Chrysanthemum Island, just off the coast of beautiful Xingcheng, my Chinese hometown. Have the week off school due to the seniors taking their uni entrance exams. My Chinese teacher had never been to the island, even though she's lived here all her life, so she, her daughter and I headed over there yesterday to be tourists. The daughter is also off school a few days this week - she'll be taking the uni entrance exams next year at this time (she said "Don't remind me!"). It was a foggy day (da wu tian - gotta reinforce what I learned), so some of my pictures aren't so great, but here are a few I'm kinda proud of: Barnacles on the rocks, just off the wharf at Xingcheng Beach at Juhua - rocks and waves. So peaceful there. I love to listen to the ocean. Taken from the ferry on the way back Mending nets - fishing wharf at Xingcheng seaside A small sample of the fishing fleet Sorting the day's catch fishing boat

I can feel the spray on my face and smell the brine. Very nice Ruth.
We have all the fog here in Xia'n but no ocean. Sigh...

Nice, Ruth. I like the rocks! Has Woza seen these?? ;D I could take Woza there if she comes to visit me. I know there is a story about rocks involving Woza and the first Suzhou meet, but I'm not privy to it. Do tell...

Ask Woz to tell you. Then I'll tell you the true story!

Okay. At summer camp, if I have you both half-drunk at the same time, maybe I'll get a version close to the truth.

The 3rd and 4th pics are magic and I really like the catch sorting. Daily life is fascinating to capture, isn't it?
