Hotel's entrance, approximately 20 to 30 folks will cross this little opening in the bamboo scaffold, everyday for a month! I DID NOT temper with the sign the hanged like so. I like the fact that they kept it into the plastic rap...

Back in Oz, part of my responsibilities in one job I had was to manage a region wide WPHS team. I have hysterics thinking about what my fellas would have done to every work site in China. There would be no work done at all.

N, I think is has to do with following internationally recognised work safety practices and standards. In China? Give me a break. Bamboo scaffolding, bamboo helmets........ And the hookers! Don't start me on the hookers.

Oh! I thought it was some kind of camera. But yeah, we need an OH&S thread. It's funny as hell here.
Thanks Dr G.

Agree with what Dr G and N have to say about work safety practices in China, gee, I've seen a few horror situations myself, but... I'm told that some engineer from pommieland came to Hong Kong, and pooh poohed the bamboo scaffolding in use. However, he went on to do some testing and found that, properly constructed it was better than steel scaffolding.
Dunno where I first found out about this. Either a guy in a pub told me or I read it on the internet. Doesn't matter, both are unimpeachable sources.

May be referring to the ISO 9000 general quality standards. A lot of people and companies claim ISO 9000 compliance without actually actually being certified or even knowing what it means.

Apparently what Newbs said is true. IRIS citation.
I don't know what ISO 9000 is either. But I think I get the joke.
And the helmets. I love the plastic kids' toy motorcycle helmets. And the ditch diggers wearing plastic sandals. And jamming bare wires into the power point if the plug is missing. Locking the firestairs for security.
I am bored now, so I won't continue.

International Standards Organization. In this case, safety standards. The good news is that this shows there are safety standards on the books here. The bad news, well, it's that old chestnut: enforcement takes infrastructure, which takes time, money and a lot of public grumbling.
