Hey all! I am heading back to China. Preferably the northeast region, but willing to go for any area right now. I should be there in March. Am looking online for different placement options, but it has been a bit since I have been in the fray. Any input would be very helpful. If you have questions about my experience or preferences, please PM me.
Thanks! Xiaoyu

The word from Con is that his old school in Liaoning is hunting 4 FTs. You'd be a four hour bus ride away from me in Xingcheng.

My place is looking for another FT - but wants a Masters degree. I like it here. PM me if you want any more info. Although we are considered North West - but I figure it is smack in the middle if you leave off inconvenient bits like Tibet and Xinjiang - who want to be left off anyway.

What Ruth said- 5K a month plus room and board. What kind of gig are you looking for again?

One that pays more than 5K a month, I would hope. Have you considered the delights of Suzhou, currently home to no less than 10 of yer fellow Saloonies? Beats the dust of Xian, or having to constantly ward off Lei Shan's grubby paws! Admittedly, warding off my grubby paws may be an even worse problem... Give it some thought!

We are looking for a few teachers also, in Nanning. details later - but the pay isn't so hot. Cost of living is low, though.

I'll have you know that it is thoroughly antique dust! With each lungful you are able to more deeply appreciate the history and culture of this great land. Living here gives you the opportunity to truly revere BLUE skies, stars, mountain views. But Xi'an has the best food, plenty of work opportunities, easy access to the rest of China and tons of stuff to do - no matter what your tastes. (Although last time I went the clothes eating snake from the Snake bar had gone somewhere else!)

Thanks for all the info so far, guys. I would be looking for something close to 8000 RMB a month, if possible. Including housing. Have been teaching now for 5 yrs. About a yr in China, working from 5 yr olds all the way to advanced business level speakers. I do prefer the older students or the extremely young. But am willing to work with any at this point. I have just finished working for the American school systems teaching ESL to elementary students. In China and in the States I was lucky enough to pretty much build my own lessons. Unfortunately, I do not have a Master's degree. BA in International Economic Development. Still working on going back for my Masters. I have mediocre speaking abilities in Chinese and French (it's gotten rusty since I left). Advanced reading in French and beginners level in Chinese. Looking for somewhere that has a good rep (obviously). If I could be in a larger city, that would be nice. Loved living in Shenyang & Panjin. Though the night life in Shenyang far outweighted Panjin. Would have no problems working 20-30 hrs of lessons a wk. Thanks again for any info/help you can give. Xiaoyu P.S. Raoul - knew I'd have to watch for your grubby paws anyway. Would be nice to finally meet up with some of the crew.

I will have you know that I wash my paws very often. And, have never had complaints regarding warding them off!!!

Pay is a little more than I get but they have a 50yr old age restriction. Living accomodations sound better than I have. The hours are the same as I have/had. 24hrs last term/20hours next term. 25 km from a bank? 25 km from what else??? One of the teachers from SYU may be starting there next term. I will have to ask her when she gets back to Wuxi. She went down yesterday to take her luggage. She leaves for Australia on Sunday for a vacation. But she said it was a technical university which fits and that the campus was out in the boonies which fits. She said the people she met were nice.
