Bear with me here. Early morning the FAO calls -babbling-and says a kid "needs to do homework." She needs to interview a foreigner--with a recording device to prove it--and (I quote sort of.)--will takeallafternoon if youdontchargetoomuchcanyoudoit howmuch? So I'm like WAIT I just woke up call me back OK?
Homework? Recorder? The only thing I can think of is like in Korea teachers will assign "homework" by getting the kids to go pester a foreigner with inane questions such as Do you like it here? Why? and the classic Can you use chopsticks? Ought to be a law.
So I said I wasn't worried about money if it doesn't take too long. A half day is out of the question I said. And they are very vague about it. For all I know I TV crew will show up here tomorrow.
OH and the last minute thing here that I am now TOTALLY sick of. Today I agreed that it would be 90 minutes at 2 tomorrow. So tonight I pour a glass of wine (my first of the week I may say ) and suddenly the phone rings. Afternoon she is busy is 9 in the morning OK? NO I said -I have plans tomorrow morning so you will have to cancel it.. 10 minutes later another call---OK 2 in the afternoon is fine. Good God...(I'm leaving China after this term but I'll save that for a rainy day.) I have a feeling this is all a big head game for reasons I won't go into and you don't want to know anyway.
So the money...I would have done it for free (that's why I'm poor) especially mentioning a kid and bloody homework. But they say I must be paid so I won't fight. But I have a ...err...ominous feeling about it..Maybe I'm paranoid---Maybe? ;D ;D) So all I can think of is ask for it to be overtime---whatever the contract says about overtime...What do you think...And don't forget when I agree a price I will have to live with it no matter what I get into...
I'll post tomorrow and let you know what I had to do and for how much...
