Hi Martin 24 I have been to Zhaoqing about 5 times. Do you know Father John? Nice bloke. He studied at the same seminary as my brother. Which school are you teaching at? I may have to head down that way in the future. No I don't know him but I've heard of him. I'm teaching at the uni here which is ok. Short teaching hours and some dedicated students. Zhaoqing is a lovely place but has become a little boring after living here for a while.

Father John is doing some great pastoral work in the city with the approval of local government,
If you are a bit bored, look him up he will take you around and show you another side of the city. He has a little school for the poor kids, built a community centre and lots of other stuff. He has an English corner every Friday I think. Very interesting chap.
I don't know you and this may not be your thing. If I lived there I trhink that is something that I would get involved in

I'm in a place where you can legally buy marijuana, prositutes have a union, and we kill old people when they want us to.
Despite that, I can't wait to get back to China though...

Never mind. Drink some more, and the coma will return. I plan to.

kill old people when they want us to. It's a shame they have to want you too eh? I am in Dayao town, Hunan. where no one has a bike because it takes more time to lock it than it does to walk to the other side of town.

you plan to drink yourself into a coma, or you plan to return? I'm confused...I've gotta stop getting into these conversations so late!

You need to read whole sentences, not just the less blurry bits. The object of the last clause is the first half of the sentence you quoted and cut off.
"Drink some more ...snip.... I plan to."
I plan to drink some more. Which part didn't you understand? I typed this slowly, wearing a ten gallon hat, so Texans can understand. Yup. Get along little doggie. Yee-har.

Currently, I'm living on the edge of a moquito-infested swamp NW of Orlando. The screens seem to be holding them out for the moment. The advantage of having all the land around me owned by the water management people is that I don't have to put up with neighbors. The disadvantage is that the water management people want to preserve ALL the aquatic life, even the mosquito larvae.

Well, even mosquito larvae have rights . . . . and souls, and are part of the divine meta-unity of nature. We should pity them, and perhaps train them to live on vegetation, and so cojoin with the spirit of Gaia in the great holistic energy feild that is the oneness of life.
Or if they keep biting me, nuke 'em. With flame-throwers for preference.

Some day Suzhou will do something about these damned skeeters. Seems this year my blood type is all the rage with them.

I've actually attempted rocket delivery of larvacide, but an errant wind gust caused the payload to miss the target. Gotta try that again sometime soon.

Lunatic, once you get to China you can buy a tennis racket mosquito zapper and have lots of fun watching them sizzle while you practice your backhand. Actually - if you are on the warpath and there are lots of mosquitoes around, you might actually look like your Saloon name fits. My husband goes psycho every night lately in a battle the wenzi are surely winning.
If you don't know already - let this be your first Chinese lesson: wenzi = mosquito. Let this be your first Australian-speak lesson: mosquito = mozzie. (We have a lot of Aussies here, so it helps to know a little of their language in order to communicate well.)

We are too high up for the mozzies. Apartment wise. A few cockies have made it through the plumbing system, not many though, the cat is right on to it

We have wenzi, but not a lot right now. We have an electrozapper raquet. Mrs N hogs it and doesn't let me play. She likes not only zapping them, but then watching them fry and sizzle afterwards. She even goes outside onto the balcony when there aren't enough inside.
And usually she is so nice to animals.

Why not try the ones that you plug into the wall and it releases a scent they don't like? You can find these in hotels. I use them from when I gett he first bite, till I have to turn on my heater. I hardly get bitten at home. The only problem, I have no idea what they are called.
