At lunchtime. I have 3 hours, I only use half hour for eating, and a half hour for lesson plans etc. So, that gives me 2 hours to either sleep or whatever. I usually nap for half to one hour, or if I am knackered, just sleep the whole thing.

Well, I got a full time job with my primary school Remember how I was teaching primary in the afternoon? Well, same school Grade 6, 12 classes each 40 mins. That means I'll be working mornings till 11.30am. Even if it doesn't restore my insomnia, at least I will work and nap just as Mr. N does: I believe there is plenty of time for that between 11.30am and 3.30pm And if I got on teaching evening adult language school - that WILL make me tired Not sure about being sleepy though

All tea has caffeine, lots of it. Commercial extraction of caffeine is from tea.

>and im convinced Zhao Bin from 'Documentary' is a robot. If so, tell the CCTV people that I'll swap a pair of RL-800 robomowers for her. I'll even throw in a Roomba, a Robosweep, and a couple of small combat bots if they'll include Helen Feng from 'Centre Stage' in the deal. “A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.” - Isaac Asimov

DaJiang: ALL teas have caffeine, including green, white and black. The only "teas" which don't/won't have caffeine are the Herbals - and they are really infusions, made by steeping said Herb (mint, jasmine, camomile, hibiscus, lemon grass, etc) in hot water. Well, actually the teas we drink are infusions, too.

ah so desu. why thank you amonk. never too old to learn eh.
so an infusion is not a tea, but the teas we drink are infusions.
like, a dog is an animal but an animal is not a dog.

Yep, all real teas (as opposed to herbal infusions) have caffeine in them. Well, theine, to be fully correct about it, but the difference is negligible.
All tea has less than caffeine than coffee. The amount varies with the degree of fermentation. Green tea has very little, oolong tea (which is used to make jasmine tea) and guan yin tea have a bit more, and black tea has a pretty good jolt. Drink enough of any of them and it will give you a caffeine jag!
In the same vein, all the people on CCTV-9 (Except for Andrew Ballen on Travelogue, who is quite a guy!) are robots. Well, animatronics, to be fully correct about it, but the difference is negligible.

Ok. Had enough of it. Almost two months. I started yesterday working mornings. And I have to be awake at 6 am so I can leave the house at 7. Anyway, since I can't sleep, I am reading the archives and preparing myself mentally to pull over 24 hours of no sleep. I am teaching from 8.00-11.30am and then from 5-9pm. I am supposed to be dead tired by then and sleep like a baby. Tighten your seatbelts and cross your fingers!

Hope your 'awake marathon' helps you sleep tonight and conquers your insomnia. This explains why you have been resurrecting some old threads. It's a good thing to do and someone's gotta do it. Too bad your insomnia is the reason, though.

Statistically, lack of sleep ie being overtired can also cause insomnia. It takes 2 hours of sleep to make up for every hour of sleep lost.
I hope it works for you, but...... Ask any new mom about sleep deprivation and why they are soo tired. Ask Raoul how long it took him to get caught up on his lost sleep!
But, I still hope it works for you. I use the "awake for 24 hours" to switch my body clock when I fly to China.

Morning classes must have been hell boring for my students. I told them I didn't feel well - which I didnt. I tried my best keeping up with them, making jokes and encouraging them. But to be honest, I don't remember some activities I did with them - though I do know for sure I had various activities with them! At times while I was reading listening exercise or listening to their answers and correcting them, it felt like it was me floating around the classroom and looking at everyone from aside. FREAKY! After classes I went home and slept for 2 hours. Unfortunately, I was awake 1 hour before I was planning on waking up as a friend needed my help. And now I have 2 more hours to teach. But at least I don't feel like passing out!!! I normally don't like taking afternoon naps because even if I didn't sleep at night, sleeping during the day light causes me headaches. Someone said if you take an afternoon nap, the best time would be between 12 and 2pm. Oh well.

Cheeks, I have insomnia something awful, as evinced by this 2am posting on a work night. Assuming I get myself to bed at all, I've had some luck with melatonin, which I can buy very cheaply at the neighborhood pharmacy. Doesn't get the worst bouts but it helps some.
Might check it out.

I have this kind of insomnia occurring occasionally in 2-3 years time for 1-2 months. Before it was due to some enormous amount of stress. This time actually everything is fine but Spring-Summer I was undergoing really huge stress. So perhaps post-stress and idiotic weather - combined they tortured my body I think within few days it will only get better. Oh well I hope so.

Well, been sleeping *on-time* but seems never enough - I dose off while on a break between 2nd and 3rd morning class - 55 mins. So, I go to my office, sit in my chair and just SWITCH OFF. Weird, eh?
