4:18Pm doesn't qualify as insomnia time for me - that's just normal daily getting on with life time. 4:18Am however could be insomnia - or (for me) normal party time!

Have you tried a Chinese traditional doctor? Last time I had insomnia I went to one and he gave me some smelly stuff to drink just before going to bed and ten minutes later I was in z z land. Woke up the next morning refresed and feeling great.

If a Chinese doctor gives it to you, surely there can't be anything wrong with it?

If a Chinese doctor gives it to you, surely there can't be anything wrong with it? It's already worked for 5000 years! Everytime I take any sort of tablet or medication western or eastern I don't REALLY know what's in it. I can read stuff on the labels and go "oh that's phenylarine" but do I really know what phenylarine is? Or what ingredients it is made of? Nuh. And eye of newt I can at least figure I have some idea what that is!

Chris had the same problem a few months back a teacher gave him some tea..it was red in colour...(St. John's Wart (wort? damn lack of spelling) maybe?)
We're still not sure, but it worked like a charm.
But him to sleep, but not in a sleeping pill, hazy kinda why. He woke up refreshed and alert.

I have a different kind of problem, but its still giving me sleep deprivation. I have no problem getting to sleep, good exercise soon tires me out My problem is waking up to damn early, i used to be able to blame it on the street noise, but now i'm on the 14th floor i don't really get disturbed but still up at the crack of dawn. the problem is dawn wants to sleep too.

No Chinese doctors for me really - I am allergic to whole lot of herbs and I don't usually take anything herbal unless I know what it is called in English or Russian and what reaction it may cause me Perhaps the clock will be restored when the weather makes up its mind - otherwise it could be too warm during the way and then suddenly cold at night.

Avoid caffine after 6PM or earlier if necessary. That is cola, coffee, tea etc. Avoid alcohol for the same reason. Do something quiet before bed, yoga, tai chi, a lot of times insomnia is because you can't quiet your mind enough to sleep.
Another way is to pretend you are going grocery shopping. You go into the vegetable section, look for something red, see the colour, smell the (tomato, watermelon etc), put it in your cart, then look for something orange, see the colour, smell touch etc. Yellow next, green next, blue, purple, white. If you can stay awake that long, then take each item out, in reverse order. Usually you will be asleep before you finish the putting in the cart. Doing this will force your mind to think of something not related to your general life etc.

I tried this the store manager was most upset to find me asleep in the produce section. “Weekends don't count unless you spend them doing something completely pointless.” - Calvin and Hobbes

I chant a mantra when I figure I am going to have difficulty sleeping - Om mani bai me om works well, as does Om shanti. Chanting occupies the mind, calms the thoughts and sends you off to sleep really fast!!
Otherwise try the muscle by muscle tightening and relaxation technique.
Best cure - get drunk! But it only works for about 4 hours then you wake up with a raging headache and thirst, and have to start over. At that time take all the painkillers you can find and a few hours later you will wake up just fine!

I just do some work, or something else that needs doing. Insomnia is great. Doubles output. And here, the lunchtime nap fixes everything.
No worries.
