Been watching it on DVD recently - seasons 1-9! Man, I miss that show! Even my gf is into it.
Have to say, my favourites are "The Chicken Roaster", where Jerry and Kramer switch apartments - and personalities, "The Hot Tub", with the marathon runner, "The Subway", "The Opposite", where George does the opposite of everything he would normally do, and "The Race", featuring a hilarious cameo by none other than Fidel Castro! (not the real one, but close enough), and a lot of laughs about Christmas, Superman and Communism.
So, what are your favourites?

The soup Nazi....hands down.
NO SOUP FOR YOU!!!
My sister and I still walk around to this day saying it.
Other favourites include Georges wallet, the black and white cookie, the masturbation contest, George and the frogger machine and when Jerry shaves his chest.
Chris' favourite is Kramer and the 'movie phone'.
Okay, I can get pretty much any other series known to man. I have been on the hunt for 'Seinfeld' FOREVER!!!!!! I'm a massive fan.
If anyone can get a hold of a copy of the full series, could someone send it to me? I would cover the costs of course.

I'm thinking about purchasing all seasons of 'Friends' here. got to get the price down though, 480 is a bit much i think. talking about 60 DVD's.
havent seen any seinfeld here, but other series they do have. cant remember which ones exactly.

I confess to never really being able to "get into" Seinfeld. But then I never could see the facination with M.A.S.H either until years and years later when I started to watch it at a friends house. Maybe I just wasn't old enough to appreciate the humor back then??? I'm always 10paces behind current trends. L.T

I was never able to fully appreciate Seinfield... Most of the time, when it came on, I changed channels. Otherwise, I'd have the urge to throw my TV out the window.. There was one exception which was the episode where the tall goofy guy kept calling his cable company and putting them on hold. I liked that one.

I'm currently half way through season 5..too many great shows to pick just one."The Contest" was a classic..the 4 of them make a wager about who can go the longest without masturbating. There was also a gret two parter where Kramer is mistaken for a serial killer. And the "Mulva" episode was pretty priceless. There's a lot of good ones where they undertake what should be a simple task(waiting for a table at a Chinese restaurant..finding a car in parkade..buying some wine and cake for a dinner party) only to see it becoma a disaster.I also liked the episode where they get the idea for "a show about nothing".
The season 7 finale where Susan dies from licking toxic enevelopes and the series finale were also great because they were so unexpectedly dark.

I never liked Seinfeld very much. I really admired Michael Richards' work ('Kramer'), but never got into the show otherwise.

I sort of fell into Seinfeld and ended up enjoying it. The best episode for me was the one Elaine went to stay with Jerry's parents in Florida and took painkillers before going to the club dinner. Great bit of slapstick.

I was never a big fan of Seinfeld until it went into syndication; and then found out what a laugh riot many of the episodes were. My two favorites are, the aforementioned "The Contest": I thought the whole "who is going to masturbate first" an absolute break through in prime time comedy, and the episode where George pisses in the shower at the local health club and is seen doing it.

Oh, yeah, forgot about the "Frogger" episode. That's my girlfriend's favourite.
I have a beef with "The English Patient" episode on the DVD. For some reason (9/11?), the hijacking of the plane at the end by the Cubans has been cut out. That really was a funny part.
Ah, and "The Susie"... "The Yada Yada" where Jerry is accused of being an "anti-Dentite" - biased against dentists.
Kramer: Oh, sure, it starts with a few jokes. Next thing, you'll be saying they should have their own schools.
Jerry: They do have their own schools!

Oh man there's just too many. My g/f loves it too. Possibly even more than I do, which I would never have thought possible.
The Soup Nazi, The Contest, The Comeback, The Dealership, The Bubbleboy.... Most of the best bits involve George. 'Friends' should not be mentioned on the same thread as this classic imho. Best thing to come out of USAnia EVER.

It had its moments. Soup Nazi was one of them. Wasn't Kramer a steal from one of The Honeymooners characters? Who's ancient enough to remember? Hamish?

Hamish and others will need to validate, but Kramer is like a modern day Norton (Art Carney's character) in a way. (Does this make me ancient? ) Like a few others, I've enjoyed one or two syndicated episodes like Soup Nazi, but I must confess, I can't stand George Castanza. He may be good for helping Seinfeld write, but he should never have been on screen IMHO. If he never appears on screen again- including commercials - it would be fine with me.

Kramer was based on a real character, a neighbour of the writer's. As a matter of fact, I believe the real 'Kramer' took advantage of some of the notariety created by the series.

Yes, Kramer was based on Larry David's neighbour, also called Kramer. Larry David, as you know, was co-creator of the show with Jerry Seinfeld, and wrote most of the episodes. In fact, in the pilot Kramer was called "Kessler" as Larry didn't want to upset the real Kramer.
And yes, the real Kramer runs a few different operations based on the fame he got from the show.
I'm downloading some bloopers now.

My fav was definately the one that filmed backwards when they went to India. Although the Soup Nazi is a close second.

The bubble boy episode was classic: "No, so sorry, it was the Moops." When Jerry dted the masseuse: "Naw, the sex is great... I WANT THE MASSAGE!" He finally grabs her hands and tries to force them onto his shoulders. George buys the greatest suit ever, then discovers too late that the pantlegs make a huge commotion when they rub together; he has to invent an entire lifestyle around never walking anywhere. The Low Talker. Reminds me of Gretch.

The one where George becomes a genius when he stops having sex while Elaine becomes stupid- the dialogue in that episode is especially sharp.
But my favorite remains George telling his new girlfriend that he's a marine biologist and then later has to rescue the dying whale, suffering due to Kramer hitting a golf ball into his blowhole.
A note- The character George is based on Larry David, who wrote or co-wrote several of the early episodes before leaving the show a couple of seasons before the end. David can be seen on Curb Your Enthusiasm, which I find brilliant but others find weird and unfunny. It certainly isn't as popular as Seinfeld was.
For example: David, in real life, actually broke into his girlfriend's apartment to steal an answering machine tape (containing an idiotic message he had left), and also once reached into a trash can to take out a piece of cake that was left untouched.
Jason Alexander, the actor playing George, balked at some of things his character was meant to do; it was only when he realized that George was really Larry David that he began mimicking David. If you notice, George becomes gradually more pathetic as the series goes on.

I read that a guy named Michael Costanza, who was Jerry Seinfeld's rommate in college, sued the show. It was widely interpreted as being totally in keeping with the character based on him.
