Last year I was complaining about being able to remove the stupid labels they stick on everything in China. Teleplayer kindly made some suggestions which work in USAnia but were not available here in China. Others made suggestions. Nothing worked. Today, I spent 30 minutes scraping, scrubbing and otherwise smearing the darn glue around on the bottom of a pan. Nothing was working. Then I remebered a solution I had used to remove chewing gum from my children's hair. (35++ years ago) Everyone says 'cut it out', use ice cubes to freeze etc. I used butter, it emulsified the gum and it washed out. I grabbed my bottle of olive oil, poured some in the pan, scrubbed it and then washed with soap and water to remove the oil. A perfectly clean pan. YEAH

Thanks, DS. This actually comes up in my life fairly often: the Sinos have a love for tape and industrial-grade stickers.

Rubbing a little lighter fluid onto sticker residue also works.

lighter fluid is by far the best solution since it won't remove any lacquer or paint as compared to nail polish remover

Is that a trick only smokers know about? I have never heard that before but will store it in my memory bank where it will be lost forever where hopefully I can find it when the situation arises. I'll try the oil trick too.

I don't smoke so I would never try that method. The oil worked and butter definitely removed gum from my kids hair those many years ago.
Oil also wouldn't hurt the paint or lacquer either.
