For newcomers, guests, as well as members outside the PRC, our mothership has been disabled by the PRC censors. One of the legion of forums hosted by Proboards [not us it seems] has upset Xiao Wang and he's pushed the "blocked" button. So while those outside the PRC can post and read, it's very difficult for those domiciled within its borders
We have opened a temporary site until this gets sorted out......or until we find a new home. The address is at the top of the opening page. You can keep posting here, but as you can see its werry werry quiet! Please don't give up on us! 3 and a bit years, and 300 plus members: we know we are doing something right!

Please don't give up on us! 3 and a bit years, and 300 plus members: we know we are doing something right! Correct weight there Dr G. Maybe those of us outside the Middle Kingdom should keep posting here as well as at the new site, and feed all the goss into our brothers and sisters in the Middle Kingdom. After all there's a cricket thread here somewhere that needs to be bumped up.

December 30th update:
Most of China is still unable to access international website due to the destruction of 6 major fibre-optic cables. The saloon is still out of reach and the alamo trying to hold strong.

Man this is slow. I'll try and keep things moving. I'll do this one because I'm here now, and there's no way I'm bumping the cricket thread

Not sure what magic Non-D did, but I'm in. Gosh it's been a long time. My move preceded the lock-down by a few days. Then the whole cable breakdown thing prevented me from checking in at the alamo. Apparently we've been having trouble here at the flat too. My roomies got in a couple days ago. Still haven't shared the secret of how to do it with me. Non-Dave says I have to ask him every time I want to log in. Wonder what that's gonna cost me???
I've applied for membership at the alamo. (think they'll let me join?) Appreciate the warm wishes and world-wide search for me while I was MIA.

So Ruth, are you using a proxy? We're very keen to see the Saloon back up and running.

Yes she is Dr G, although she may not know it. Noles filled me in on how to do it a few days ago and suddenly the internet works again.

N-D, Ruth, welcome home, proxy or not. Good to know we're all coming together whether here or in the "party tent." I don't want to think exile anymore, it's just the "Party tent in the alley." Ruth, tell Crippler, its UNC vs Georgia Tech tonight. I'll post scores if need be, but they'll be on international wire by tomorrow.
Best to all, TP

Hey Ruth!
Welcome back! This whole internet breakdown is definitely more than a little annoying... but seems we are all learning to adjust! Good to see another friendly face in the old digs.

Ah, Champagne! the only alcohol I know of that let's you get drunk twice. If you don't believe me, get drunk on chapagne, I don't mean a little tipsy, I mean get a champagne drunk on. Then next morning, as you shower to wash off your hangover, drink in some shower water...or just get a glass of water....you'll feel your inebriation reactivate. Old brides maid tale you say? Try it. Prove me wrong.
