Got to like their attitude anyway. Today I am told 11 in the morning is too close to lunch and I should come back at 3ish. Now I am all in favor of long lunch breaks---I am a Union guy---but it being my third trip (and a zillion phone calls) I wanted it done with. I said if I leave I am NEVER coming back and will deal with crooks in Shanghai. In their defense it was the boob FAO and not the bank who wasted my time up until this point.
Anyway I had my greenbacks (I'm embarassed to say how few) an hour later after a lot of photcopying and questions. They even wanted to know why my passport has no valid visa. Jesus---I mumbled something about green books and she just gave up...
Being snippy but actually it was not too bad....With proper directions to begin with it all could have been done in 20 minutes. On e thing I didn't know it helps to not only bring your docs but also a photocopy of them.
Also helps to do the full nelson thing...

I've always found that, on principle, the people at the Bank of China never want to do anything on the first visit. It's possible that they're instructed in this manner.
Why?! China.
