You don't notice in PRC where it's always 8-1. Here , a few years ago, 100 US gave you 125 Korean (taking the zeros out.) It's now sort of 1-1. Man that's a large drop/ On the other hand it will be nice changing money the other way. So much for my Economics post. Things look OK-as long as the work visa goes smoothly . First thing I noticed is how warm it is everywhere..(Indoors I mean-freezing outside.) This PC room feels like Thailand. Tooo hot One more thing (me being Lager and all ) I see they have these MASSIVE bottles of beer-almost like a novelty item...Called a "pitcher" and even I would be hard pressed to finish 2 (OK maybe 3.) Anyway thanks for the "good lucks" All went smoothly-as noted they just take the green book when exiting. And (as a lucky Canadian) I am now stamped in for a 6-month visit.

Anyonghaseyo? Where are you in Korea? I did my first teaching stint in the ROK and I loved it, but they do tend to work you like a dog over there...six day weeks, five or six classes a day every day....

Yeh Raoul I'ma here. (Don't you read your own forum!? ) Hehheh no need for the warning though I did spend 22 months here and I know how evil it can be. Monkey King - I'm in a place called Geeshon (sp) which is south of Wonju. Only 2 hours or so from Seoul which aint bad really. In this place you can be on the metro line and still be 2 hours away. Tonight I met some of the laowai who live here. Small town and still 30 or so away beautiful person of noble Asian ancestrys here .(uh-oh-censor,) One thing I notice is the err....ability...to walk out the door and not have security guards eyeing you. WOW-culture shock. This is neat-nobody cares that I am out at 7-11 and a PC room when I "should" be sleeping. Know what I mean? Not dissing my favorite country -PRC- I'm just saying it's nice to be ignored. Yeh Duke it all happened fast amd it's all going swimmingly so far. We'll see what Immigration have to say about my return...

I'm hoping the rest of the world will put their foot down, insist China stop cheating, and make them up the value of the yuan. Of course, the PRC will drag their heels and delay this moment as long as they can... So long as it happens while I'm over there. I have one smiley for the exchange rate with the loonie:
