yo' whats up. hope your all well and enjoyed the holiday. now its time to get back to the dread of the class rooms.
i want to hit another city really bad over the winter. some place beautiful, serene, barren of people and warm.
what suggestions do ya all have?

Yes, Vietnam might be a good idea. You can still get off the beaten path sometimes in Thailand and Malaysia, too. I don't think the concepts of "serene" or "barren of people" have existed in China for millennia now except in inaccessible mountains or on the frozen tundra and/or desert parts...

I saw a doc on CCTV-9 about the towns around Chongqing. Claimed they were clean and uncrowded. Claimed.
Sounds like you want a small town not known for industry. Maybe near a lake, close to the major train routes (maybe a short bus trip to avoid the swelling masses), and well South of Beijing.
