Juggler's right. His skull was crushed. He wasn't wearing any body protection except for a bike helmet. On a happier note... If you want to see the video of Danny Way, click here and then click on the Videos link.

It should be a test in Maxim or Cosmo: HOW MUCH STIMULATION DO YOU NEED?
Some folks have to bungee jump to be internally moved; me, something I read, think, or receive in conversation will do it. My hobby is chess.
This dude's hobby was sailing on a bike over eally big things. I have no doubt he was happy in his life.
But no one gets killed in chess. Or daydreaming.

Umm, yeah, they do, get killed day dreaming that is. Even drive by shooters target people like daydreamers.

Yeah, true... but the most likely things to kill you before retirement age are preventable through precautions.
But, of course, even life can end at any moment.
if you're careful, though, the odds are heavily in your favour.
Thus sayeth the chain smoker.

Yah. Personally, I think the whole death thing is a bad design flaw that should be able to be remedied sooner or later. Preferably sooner, if I can have my druthers.

I have a vision of the future: reincarnation made manifest. When you get obscenely old, they digitize you; and to avoid overcrowding, they shoot/beam you off to another planet, where you get a new body, adapted to tht climate. Anew incarnation.
Haven't wroked out a decent conflict to put this is novel fromat, but- aw, I just haven't gotten around to it. But I'm convinced this is humanity's future. too late for us, I figure, but our grandkids...

Wouldn't have to do that.
Could just be virtual space, much simpler. Something like that from EON and ETERNITY by Greg Bear, or a couple of other writers such as ARISTOI by someone or other. Or in fact they would be copies, so it would be like a dozen stories from the sixties to even star trek TNG rubbish.
One story I read, that was how they were colonizing, from suicides in govt suicide booths, but only about one third got through. But they had planned on dying anyway, so they had no problems. Ended on a hopeful note, but then, the proponent had worked it out, and gambled, and won.
The story would be the thing.
