I'm curious to know how many of my drinking buddies ride a bike.In Handan this is similar to a deathwish.I've flat out refused...despite the fact that my school provided me with a bike.
The good news I get driven to most schools that aren't in walking distance. They've given up on me!If more FT's did this we wouldn't be expected to deal with the anarchy that passes as Chinese driving "laws".I've seen 6 accidents in the last 3 months!

I rode a bike in Zibo....a law-abiding city. Perfectly safe. Unfortunately, both bikes were stolen. Some laws are obviously meant to be broken! But NEVER in Tai'an, and not in Inner Jinan, either. I'm thinking about a new one because it's a bit quieter here in North Jinan.

George....Hello mate - how are things for you in Jinan? How can you live in Jinan and forget you've got lungs?
My Missus and I aswell as kids and grandparents went there when you guys got together back in May. It was soooo polluted? At that time we had access to a lovely new black Buick -courtesy of one of the government official releatives. That was fine but I sure wouldn't want to expose my lungs for long periods to the Jinan pollution!

C'mon, Connie. Get brave and get out there. Check out the chicks riding their treadlies. Keep pace with them (if you can ) and look at their credentials.

I have a bike - got some Chinese friends to buy it for me so I didn't have to pay dabizi prices. It's a mountain/sports bike - bright yellow and iridescent blue - they said the colour was the hardest thing to organise - had to fit my personality! I have added a back and front carrier to it, plus have 4 locks. Been told unless you have had your bike stolen 4 times you are not a Xi'anren. I am considering adding an umbrella holder to the handle bars. Love riding it - getting very Chinese in the traffic. Xi'an drivers ahve a bad reputation across China apparently.

Well, I was reliably informed that the leading cause of death among laowai was traffic accidents while riding bikes.
