i dont know if you guys have gotten married or not. if you are, i wish you good luck and hope you are happy.
i am getting divorced and let me tell you that i am really having a tough time with this woman who i can happily say is my soon to be x wife.
only one word comes to mind for her...sha bi.
anyway.
its really difficult being here without speaking the language and god has been good enough to me to grace me with many friends who are nice enough to help me find a place to move.
these days my x wife is being a total biatch. i had just payed 10,000 rmb for 6 months rent on a place and she asks for a divorce. so i didnt have any loot to move and she was trying to push me out the door.
i know not all chinese people are bad, spitters, line cutters and take advantage of laowai but somedays i just want to punch someone in the gut just for saying something stupid to me.
yesterday i went to an apartment rental agency with my friend and after we were told an apartment was 1100 rmb a month they jacked the price up to 1300 cuz the manager saw i was white and then they tried to hit me with a heat fee of 1500 rmb which is high for beijing. i got pissed off, yelled that "its m'kaying september, who needs heat right now?" , and i walked out. the guy followed me and i yelled at him you better leave me alone or else.
or else what? maybe id hit him with a dead chicken?
oh i am so frustrated.
that poor man. i feel bad. its not his fault that my wife is a manipulative, lying, cheating wench.
the good news is that im going to be a free man in china.
ahhhhh, the waters of many outweigh the waters of the few.
hahaha

Sorry, man. Saying "have a beer" sounds feeble, but it is all I have right now.

No wonder you want to go wandering about. Stuff like that would drive me off the deep end.
Hang in there, and stay far from your x.
I hope it all works out in the end.

I got a weird thing on the open day yesterday. Girl comes up chats, wants my number. I was giving it to the head teacher, so I give it to her, reluctantly, even if she was cute. She later rings me, wishes me happy teachers day and can she call me uncle? I suspected that this (green card etc) was what she was doing, but my wife answered the phone, and this didn't seem to put her off in any way.
Dazed and Confused.

I was 26 and 27 when I was in China, and did that sort of an attitude ever make things lonely. I was never sure with most people (yes, especially the female type people) if they were actually interested in me, or English lessons, or money, or landed immigrant status in Canada or what. The difference in Japan being I know they're not interested because I make exactly half what my Japanese colleagues make, the "zeal" for English language learning usually just translates into people dropkicking their kids into dodgy conversational school classes, and Japan is even more of a first world nation than The People's Democratic Eighth World Republic of Nova Scotia.

Gorgeous Suzhou. The suburbs are small-town friendly, only cleaner. Downtown is beautiful, but I haven't really checked out the culture yet.
Never lived in Beijing, so I can't compare the two, but maybe you just live in the wrong part of town.
