If you grew up in the '60s, you would have experienced iconic rock/blues outfit "The Loved Ones". Raspy voiced Gerry Humphries died in London last week, so here's a link where you can hear a few tracks you may just recall. Great band, great singer. diddywah.blogspot.com/Time for Christmas nostalgia.

Thanks Dr G
No relation to Barry Humphries, but that didn't stop at least one radio station in Melbourne last week claiming that he was.

Thank you Newbs. I dunno if you're a Nick Cave fan, but listen to that middle section of "Sad Dark Eyes", and who are you hearing?

I like Nick Cave, used to see him fairly regularly back in the late 70's in Sydney. When he first started singing in a band, he was too young to drink. He also had a david bowie type of haircut - pretty weird, given his later direction.

Heart attack Woza. Pretty common, unfortunately. I'll try to find "Ever Lovin' Man " for you. Stay on thread!
OK, can't find it as yet, but listen to the 2 tracks on my original link. Seriously exciting stuff, what!
An update. Looking for the file, there's the INXS cover, fair enough, but then some crappy american band calling themselves "The Loved Ones". The Rolling Stones next I suppose.
For the uninitiated, he sounds a bit like Screamin' Jay Hawkins when in full flight.
A major musical influence on me, my band covered his cover of Fats Domino's "Blueberry Hill". Not a bad job either. And then I think someone covered us. So it goes.
