had 3 classes this afternoon with my middle school students. I did the quiz game as a review on passed lessons. It went well and I was really surprised at their English I think in a more relaxed lesson they really are more confident and come out of their shells.
My usual bastard of a class were one of the best and as a reward I sang them a song. It is truly amazing what you cn get away with here. Thanks Newbs

Students only see English as a barrier and something to be passed which results in zero learning. This is a real problem.

It was strange, I had a class that just refused to participate in class. All the teachers said that this class "Is the best class in the whole school!" the parents didn't even have to pay for their lessons, they get free classes as their marks are so high. So everyone was surprised when I said that this class is not a very good class as no one in my opinion tried. At all.
So I gave them a topic and they had to learn about debates- and practice on their own time. The topic- "Should teachers salaries be based on how popular the teacher is with the students?" I honestly thought that this topic with high school students would turn out "I agree popular teachers should be paid more" but students gave excellent points. They said a teacher with some experience should be paid less than a teacher with more experience. And after a period of time they should be evaluated and have their salaries looked at.
So I guess this is as good an answer as any to the question of how important is experience.
