I Must Have Power! Limitless Power!!!!! AHAHA!!!!! I need it in order to fulfill my destiny to [glow=red,2,300]conquer the world![/glow] I also need it for my digital camera, so I'll toss out another of my silly questions. Outside of major urban areas, do the Chinese use the same battery types that are common in the US (AAA, AA, C, D, 9V)? Also, how hard would it be to acquire a recharger for my NiMH AAA and AA cells that will work on Chinese current? I'm not sure I'd completely trust my handy Rayovac recharger running via a voltage converter. "Opportunities multiply as they are seized." - Sun Tzu

<<so I'll toss out another of my silly questions.>> I think I'll toss it out too!! On second thoughts, no! I'm tooooooo nice for that. Battery sizes are the same here, and Nim-H chargers are easily found.

My charger works in both China and Oz without a voltage adapter. Maybe yours does. I just need a plug adapter.

most likely the US one won't work in china because everything there is 110V whereas China uses 220V. new ones can be found in most supermarkets for 40RMB

Mine is supposed to also work in the US. It compensates or something. I guess it depends on the device.

There should be a voltage rating somewhere on the body of your charger. A lot of American products can handle either 110 or 220....it's a global market now, and it's cheaper to just make them all with the same transformer.
You can also buy voltage converters (try Radio Shack or the luggage department of a department store) that will step down 220 to 110.
Or, yeah, you can buy chargers at any large supermarket here.

I'll second Raoul's comment on common transformers across the globe. All of the appliances I would have thought to bring (laptop, camera battery charger, electric razor) tolerate a range of 100-240V, give or take a few volts. Some of the items are up the 5 years old, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
