who wouldn't want to leave her/ his school when there's an obvious cheating and unscrupulous handling of his visa? just want to remind u guys that leaving a school and finding another one is easy for NATIVE SPEAKERS...i'm a filipina.
so i guess with that issue on visa, i dont have the nerve to argue with them or they might kick my ass out of their school...

i'm teaching in a legitimate/licensed language school but they couldn't help me change my F visa to Z. this would be the second time that i need to renew and this time i needed to go to hongkong or macau.
it's unfair!!!!!!!!!!!!

It seems that these days going to HK or going through an agency(most of which are located in Beijing and Shanghai..and a lot of which are dodgy) is the only way to get a Z visa in -country.If your school pays for the trip and visa...they're probably OK.If not..you may want to consider packing your bags.
Yes..it is harder for non-native speakers to find good work here..but by no means impossible.Start sending out resumes now..or better yet take weekend trips to accessible cities(Yantai,Qingdao and Jinan are all in your range) and apply in person.
Have you signed a contract stating that the school will provide you with a Z-visa?If you did and they don't at least pay for it...you should wait for the right time and pack your bags in the middle of the night and run.If not..I dunno. The legalities here get quite murky.

according to the latest law, at least in beijing, there are stricker regulations towards changing F visa to Z. In Qingdao I remember having hard time with it. And it had nothing to do with being a native or non-native speaker...

Solong, as far as I can tell, you want to simply teach in China. Technically, that's not allowed on a business visa, although pretty much every other kind of work is.* You want a type-Z- then you're solidly in the country for a whole year.
* Not sure about this, though. Any other restrictions?
