Not yet Lotus..thanks for asking.Should be any day now.It seems as if the first genetic trait the kid has inherited from me is laziness.

it's pretty cool that your baby will be born a Chinese citizen. Better enjoy the quiet of this weekend, life as you know it is about to disappear, forever! The best advice I was given was "If at some point you feel like throwing your sweet bundle of joy out the window, don't worry, it's perfectly normal." My sweet bundle is now a teenager and I had to run away to China and let his dad deal with 'the bundle.'

It won't be a Chinese citizen.Standards for citizenship are based on race and if at least one of the parents isn't Chinese then neither is the kid.
It will in fact be stateless until I register it with the consulate in Beijing and apply for a Canadian birth certificate.Heading up on the 29th to do that,so if any of you Beijingites wanna hook up for dinner on that weekend I'm game

in his defense, he didn't have a cell phone before which made meetings a bit hard. We did have the pleasure of sharing more than a few baijiu shot back in september and that was an immense pleasure that shall be repeated over burgers, good red wine and decent long island ice teas.

Cheeks..Beijing is a big place and our timing is never right.When I'm there I do make the effort to get in touch..but without making concrete plans in advance it's difficult to cooridinate meetings.
And I am a member of the mobile phone users club now...so no worries.The very same week Nolefan and I went to Hengshui(ah...wire mesh and millionaires..such memories) I realized I was in desperate need of a mobile.
So..next May at Midi..babys first rock festival.You got plenty of warning so clear some time on your calendar and let your hair down.It should be a hoot.
