I'm a wanker. I have requirements.
Small classes.
I don't care if it's 25 hours a week. I just want small classes. 12-15 students. 20 max.
Communicative methods don't work on large classes. After a while all one communicates is frustration.
A CELTA doesn't work in a uni. Especially when, like me, the CELTEE is just out of camp.
I'm starting, again, to feel the distress of too much preparation, too little effect, too much worry that there's something else I should have done.
I don't love my students. I am not their friend. I want to relate to them through the subject.
In small classes.
I am seriously considering taking off to some Thailand language mill work. There I'd find a low salary, odd ball culture, great food, split shifts and small goddamn classes, 8 or 9 students each.
