In last week's adult class we were again talking about social problems. One of my students told me a story about his stepbrother who along with 40 others was caught smuggling heroin, about 300 kilos of the stuff and sentenced to death. If the family were able to come up with 300,000 for bribes he would have been set free. The family are poor and consequently he was shot.

I'm sorry for the guy who lost his stepbrother, and the bribe thing sucks, but the consequence isn't too harsh, if you ask me. I'm with China on this one. America should adopt this policy. Death by firing squad to the big-time drug smugglers.  And to all the lawyers who defend them  |

The death penalty, I have a hard time with this one I don't know if I disagee with it because of my upbringing and if I didn't have that influence would I just say go for it, without any qualms. I know there are some real scum out there taking up space and not redeemable but as the argument goes should the government murder them. I wish a well balanced computer ran the world.

Just administer a few shots of their own Horse to the smugglers. If they get hooked, they can experience the hell they end up giving to their customers, if they end up with an overdose, Oh Well!  As for the people using, many I have met would consider a death sentence a reward considering the hell they actually live in. |

The real problem here is not so much the penalty - but the ability to bribe your way out! I do not condone the death penalty for any offence, am quite happy with life imprisonment instead. But - I am totally against one p[ena;lty for the rich, and one for the poor. Justice!!

I think that was the thing that upset me the most, that you can bribe your way out of anything I have heard stories from students about rape, murder and so on.
