Con, I really like your explanation of WHY line cutting bothers you. Nicely put and describes my feelings so well. I've used my elbows and extended my arms a couple of times since living here, to maintain my place in line, or preserve someone elses.
"A rage all out of proportion" - I don't know that I experience rage, per se, but it does get me angry. It is the identity thing. What makes them more important than anyone else who has been standing in line ahead of them?
Millana - this WILL happen to you when you come to China. You will have to learn to deal with it, however best you can.
Actually, I often experience it in reverse. At my little local market store, they will often serve me ahead of others. I don't like this kind of treatment. Sometimes I have motioned and convinced them to serve the other customer first, but usually my efforts are in vain. Celebrity status, I guess.

Me, I'm stubborn about it: I'll insist, and my voice and gestures will get louder, until everyone else gives in. I refuse to DESERVE that poo.
